A dry stone retaining wall built into an existing landscape in Englewood, Colorado — hand-set to tie into the yard around it.
Before
After
Ranging from Platt Park to Englewood, many suburban Denver front yards have a distinctive sharp slope onto the sidewalk. This homeowner got tired of having to mow that awkward angle, and wanted to give the yard more boundary definition.
With a dry stone wall of Rocky Mountain granite, the yard now takes shape and lends a rustic aesthetic. Cities often require permitting on any retaining wall built over four feet. We avoided this by building two short walls, saving the homeowner time and money.
